What is English Llama?
English Llama is an AI-powered English speaking practice app. It helps you improve your spoken English through topic-based talks, scenario exercises, vocabulary practice, and AI feedback on your pronunciation, fluency, grammar, and delivery.
What data we collect and why
1. Email address

- We use your email to create your account and send a one-time password (OTP) to log you in. We do not use your email for marketing.

2. Voice recordings
- Why
- When you complete a speaking exercise, your audio is uploaded to our servers so our AI can analyse your speech and give you feedback.
- Stored
- Yes, temporarily in cloud storage to process the analysis. The audio is used only for generating your feedback and is deleted once your feedback is ready.
- Shared
- With a third-party AI service provider that processes the audio to produce your feedback scores and comments. This provider does not use your audio for any other purpose.
3. Speaking feedback and scores

- Your AI feedback results (scores, comments per criterion) are saved so you can review past sessions.
- Stored
- Yes, in our database linked to your account.
4. Learning progress
- Why
- We track your vocabulary progress, scenario completion, daily streaks, and quiz results to personalise your experience and show you your improvement over time.

- Yes, in our database linked to your account.
5. Subscription and purchase information
- Why
- If you subscribe or buy a pack, we store your plan type, expiry date, and a Google Play purchase token to verify your entitlement and manage your quota.
- Not stored
- Your card number, UPI ID, or any payment credentials. All payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play.
6. Usage quota data
- Why
- We track how many long talks and scenarios you’ve used to enforce your plan’s daily or total limits.
- Stored
- Yes, in our database.
7. Analytics & crash data
- Why
- We use crash reporting and analytics tools to understand how the app is used and to fix bugs quickly. This helps us improve stability and the overall experience.
- Collected
- Device type, OS version, app version, crash reports, error logs, and anonymised usage events (e.g. which features you use). We do not collect personally identifiable information through these tools.
- Shared with
- Firebase (Crashlytics & Analytics) and Sentry. These providers process data solely to deliver their services and are bound by their own privacy policies.
What we do NOT do
- Sell your data to anyone
- Use your voice recordings for training AI models
- Show you ads
- Track you across other apps or websites
- Collect your location
- Access your contacts, camera, or any other device permissions beyond microphone (for recording)

Data retention
- Account data: Kept for as long as your account is active. If you want your account deleted, email us at apps.simplemagic@gmail.com and we will delete all your data within 14 days.
- Voice recordings: Retained on our servers for up to 24–48 hours after your feedback is generated, then permanently deleted.
- Feedback results: Kept indefinitely so you can review your history. Deleted when your account is deleted.
Children’s privacy
English Llama is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at apps.simplemagic@gmail.com and we will delete the account immediately.
Your rights
You can at any time:
- Request your data — email us and we’ll send you everything we have stored about you.
- Delete your account — email us at apps.simplemagic@gmail.com.
- Withdraw consent — stop using the app and request deletion.
Security
Your data is stored on AWS infrastructure with industry-standard security. Passwords are never stored — we use OTP-based login only. Audio files are stored in private cloud storage not accessible to the public.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
